Polishing Aluminas
The Microclear alumina polish that was a pilot production in 2006 and introduced into limited production in 2010 has now grown into a full line of polishing materials. The Microclear line is a diminishing abrasive, 99% pure alpha alumina with .3 -.5 micron primary particle. Micro has the capability of altering the hardness of these agglomerated particles as well as adjusting the particle size distribution from .5 microns to 10 microns at the D50%. We control the particle size creating different distributions such as bimodal and trimodal materials. These materials are used in many polishing applications on such materials as sapphire for the electronics markets, plastics for commercial use, acrylics for medical applications, clear coats for the auto polish market, soft metals for the smart phone and tablet markets as well as exotic material for proprietary markets just to name a few.
The Microclear product line comes in many forms:
• Microclear DS a 38% solids slurry with a PSD range of .5 micron to 10 microns
• Microclear DD a dry polish powder with a PSD range of 1 micron to 6 microns
• Microclear Ultra a dry polishing powder with a PSD range of .5 micron to 10 microns
• Microclear EC a dry polishing powder with a PSD ranger from 2 micron to 6 microns
